Purchasing a computer for use at the School of Public Health

SPHTechs strongly suggests students purchase computers that meet our minimum hardware specifications and software specifications to enable the best access to UA and SPH IT resources.

SPHTechs assist faculty and staff with the purchase of hardware and computer equipment via the NYS aggregate discount site for office use.

The University at Albany negotiates with vendors to make software available to UA faculty, staff and students for discounted rates or, in some cases, for free. See what software is available.

UA provides the whole University community with a unique identifier known as a NetID. Your NetID is the electronic key to a variety of computing systems and services at UA. Used in combination with a strong password, the NetID provides access to online resources such as UAlbany Mail, the UNIX cluster, MyUalbany, Virtual Information Commons (VIC), Wikis and Blackboard.
